Olivia EddyLead Producer – UT Today

Olivia is the Lead Producer for UT Today. She was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee and calls Knoxville home. She is a senior at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science in Communications. Her experience in producing includes an internship at the Knoxville ABC’s affiliate WATE 6 On Your Side News. Following her six-month internship at WATE, she was hired on as a part-time Associate Producer and stayed on for another six months. Olivia is currently the lead producer at UT today and writes a weekly show that consists of both national stories and UTK related stories put together by her fellow classmates. After graduating, Olivia plans to attend graduate school in Newcastle, England at Newcastle University. She hopes to one day produce a newscast for a national news organization.

Will Boling  Sports Anchor/Reporter – UT Today

Will is the Sports Anchor for UT Today. A Nashville native, Will has worked as a play-by-play broadcaster for the past six years in Middle and East Tennessee, including Brentwood Academy and Alcoa High School football, Nashville Soccer Club and the Tennessee Smokies. He has appeared been on the air with 104.5 The Zone WGFX-FM in Nashville as a weekly expert guest covering University of Tennessee football. Will currently manages Tennessee Milesplit, covering and broadcasting area track and field. A former UT track and field student-athlete, he’s entering his third season as the program’s public address announcer this spring.

Sierra Morgan Galanza Sports Anchor/Reporter – UT Today

Sierra is a sports anchor and reporter for UT Today. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Sierra is a senior at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Electronic Media. During her time at Tennessee, Sierra has interned at WVLT-TV as a sports intern and is currently a writer and sports clerk at the Knoxville News Sentinel. Sierra is the first Tennessee student to be accepted into the Sports Journalism Institute (SJI) and will be interning with ESPN in Bristol, CT upon graduation.

Caleb Wethington Digital Director  – UT Today

Caleb Wethington is the digital director for UT Today. He was born and raised in Mount Juliet, Tennessee. He is a senior at the University of Tennessee and will graduate in May with a degree in Journalism and Electronic Media. His experience in the digital world includes an internship with WATE, where he focused on helping the digital team with producing content for the website and social media account; he also helped the sports team edit video to air on their newscast as well as help to write scripts for broadcast. Caleb is also currently an associate producer for WATE where he works the assignment desk and helps produce digital content, and does other duties for the station.  Every week he is responsible for producing content for UT Today’s online platforms. After graduation, Caleb wants to continue in a career producing digital content for his respective employer’s website and social media accounts.

Taylor Vanderbilt  – Digital Producer  – UT Today

Taylor Vanderbilt is part of the digital and sports teams for UT Today. He was born and raised in Middle Tennessee, with Murfreesboro being his base. He is a senior at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science in Communications. His experience in the digital and sports worlds include an internship with Fox’s Sports Radio’s Outkick The Coverage where he produced social media content for the show while also being a production assistant. Taylor is also currently interning at a local sports agency. Taylor is a current digital and sports team member. Every week he is responsible for producing content for UT Today’s online platforms. After graduation, Taylor plans to go into athlete/media relations.

Anslee Daniel Anchor/Reporter  – UT Today

Anslee Daniel is a senior at the University of Tennessee- Knoxville studying Journalism and Electronic Media.  She is from the Metro-Atlanta area. Anslee discovered her passion and talent for news at the Douglas County College and Career Institute where she completed a pathway for Audio, Video, Technology, and Film. She continued to use her skills as a correspondent and anchor for the Volunteer Channel News her freshman and sophomore year of college. In the summer of 2017, Anslee completed a Foreign Correspondent Course through TOL Education in Prague, Czech Republic. That summer, she was an intern for WATE (ABC Affiliate) in Knoxville, Tennessee. Throughout her collegiate career, Anslee has had the opportunity to serve in various leadership positions. She is also a member of The Society of Professional Journalists and the Gamma Alpha chapter of the Delta Gamma Fraternity. In spring of 2018, Anslee participated in another internship with WBIR, Channel 10 (NBC Affiliate) in Knoxville. That internship led to a six month, part-time position as a Visual Storyteller. She will graduate in May of 2019.

Chase Biefeldt Anchor/Reporter  – UT Today

Chase is an anchor and reporter for UT Today. Born and raised in Knoxville, he is now a senior at The University of Tennessee studying Journalism and Electronic Media. He has had an internship at Knoxville’s CBS affiliate (WVLT, Channel 8) and is currently an intern and storyteller at Knoxville’s NBC affiliate (WBIR, 10News). He enjoys covering everything from hard-news to light-hearted features. Chase likes spending his free time at home with his mother and sisters. He enjoys video games and working out at the gym. Chase initially went to school with hopes of being a video game journalist but found another calling through TV news reporting. He is ready to Rock N’ Roll with the rest of his UT Today classmates by telling stories on his campus, as well as the greater Knoxville area. Jelissa Baidoo Anchor/Reporter  – UT Today

Jelissa is an anchor/ reporter for UT Today. She was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. She is a senior at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and will graduate in May with a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. Her experience in producing includes an internship at the Knoxville ABC’s affiliate WATE 6 On Your Side News in the Fall of 2018. The following semester she was hired as a part-time intern at WBIR, Knoxville’s NBC affiliate, where she is currently in training. At the UT, Jelissa is involved in many organizations outside of journalism including the VolTeam Recruitment/ Hostess program, and even holds a leadership position in the Diversity Student Leaders Society, where she is the Vice President of Records. After graduating, Jelissa plans to work as a news or lifestyle reporter. Her hopes are to one day own her own network and host a talk show that promotes diversity and inclusion.

Arial Starks Anchor/Reporter  – UT Today

Arial is a reporter and anchor for UT Today. She was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. She is a senior at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville and will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science in Communications. Her experience in media includes an internship with The Tennessee Journalist and The Knoxville reference desk, both online media platforms. She also worked as the Student Communications Assistant to the University of Tennessee’s chancellor. Following a four-month internship, Arial was hired at CBS’ local Knoxville affiliate WVLT 8, where she currently works part-time as a digital assignment editor and associate producer. Arial is an anchor for UT today and when you don’t see her on-screen, she is out in the field reporting and turning weekly stories for on-air content. After graduation, Arial aspires to report at a smaller market news organization, and eventually work her way up to anchoring for a national news organization.

Marina Trikones Anchor/Reporter  – UT Today

Marina is an Anchor/Reporter for UT Today. She was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. She is a junior at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and is majoring in Journalism and Electronic Media and minoring in English. Her experience in reporting includes a news internship at the Knoxville ABC affiliate WATE 6 On Your Side News. Marina is responsible for producing weekly content for UT Today, including both national and UTK related stories. After graduating, Marina hopes to become a snowsport reporter to tie her love for snowboarding into her career. Marina’s portfolio can be found on her website at marinatrikones.wordpress.com.

Nicole Painter Anchor/Reporter  – UT Today

Nicole Painter is an anchor and multimedia journalism for UT Today. She is a Junior at The University of Tennessee double majoring in Journalism and Electronic Media and Political Science. Her time as an intern at both WBIR-TV and WVLT-TV here in Knoxville has grown Nicole’s passion for producing quality and relevant content, both on and off campus. Prior to this school year, she spent 13 weeks interning in Washington, D.C. under Senator Bob Corker and Senator Lamar Alexander. Her time in D.C. exposed her to the world of politics, which is now where her interest lie. Nicole serves as a reporter and anchor for UT Today, where she produces stories for the greater Knoxville community. She has aspirations to become a political correspondent for a major news network.

Kim Rafferty Anchor/Reporter  – UT Today

Kim is a reporter and anchor for UT Today. She was born in New Orleans and moved to Nashville in 2005 because of Hurricane Katrina. Kim is inspired by the reporting done during Katrina and has continued her education in the field. She is a double major at UTK in Journalism and Electronic Media and French studies and is aspiring to be a multimedia journalist. Internships and extracurriculars throughout Kim’s time at UT. She started out as an intern at The Tennessee Volunteer Channel where she learned about basic camera operation and production. Her next internship was at WBIR Channel 10 in Knoxville. During her six-month internship, Kim produced content each shit for the show and a special project highlighting Knoxville’s mural art. In Kim’s Final semester at UTK, she became an editor and photog with WBIR. Kim is excited to produce content for UT Today with what she has learned during her educational career. After graduation Kim plans to find work as a reporter and begin her career in multimedia journalism.

Sara Johnson Reporter  – UT Today

Sara Johnson is a reporter for UT Today. She was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. She is a senior at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and will graduate in May with her Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Electronic Media. She was an intern for Knoxville Weekend for a semester and plans to continue to use what she learned to produce content for UT Today. She has also been a DJ and show host for over two years for WUTK 90.3 The Rock. Sara is currently a reporter for UT Today. After graduation, she plans to work at Walt Disney World in Orlando in the Disney College Program. After that, she will continue working towards her goal of being a multimedia journalist and then working to have her own talk show.
