Self-proclaimed ‘Jam Mother’, Sarah Pirkle has been leading the weekly Old Time Jam Session every Tuesday for the last eight years at her friend’s Scottish pub, Boyd’s Jig & Reel.
The group, made up of mostly string instruments play solely old time music, hence the name of the jam session.
Newcomers are always welcome to join Pirkle and her fellow musicians and she encourages everyone to bring their own instruments. If you’ve forgotten your instrument or don’t have one, no need to fret as the Scottish pub has a wall full of instruments for guests to borrow.
For those who prefer not to play, there is seating available for those who would rather sit back have a drink and enjoy the sounds of the strings. You can count on people in the audience to be singing and dancing along to the familiar tunes.
Whether you are at Boyd’s Jig & Reel to play or to listen, one thing is for certain, you are guaranteed some great music and great company.
