Due to COVID-19, the NCAA eliminated the 2020 Cross Country Regional Championship Meet. With a vaccine and more information on the virus, the NCAA has now decided to pick up where they left off. There will be a Cross country Championship tournament held on March 15th in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Cross Country runner and junior at the University of Tennessee Sydney says she’s happy that she gets to compete.

Sydney,” It’s an awesome feeling. I was really nervous that I wasn’t going to get my chance to go this year. Getting the opportunity to go in such a weird year where everything’s different is like really honoring and it makes me feel like everything, I worked for is finally paying off.

This past Fall, the Lady Vols were unable to compete in the SEC Championship due to COVID-19 contact tracing. Sydney says although the team had to sit out, she’s looking forward to competing and hopefully winning as well.

Sydney ,” I feel like it’s a redemption for me and a lot of people that had to miss out unfortunately. So, I am excited for that.  I’m excited to compete in my first national meet so we will see how it goes. Hopefully, I will come back as an all-America.”

We wish the Vols good luck as they compete for a championship.
